IRIS Software Group
Modern Slavery Statement – Financial Year 2026
Introduction
This statement outlines IRIS Software Group’s (“IRIS“) ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced labour in all areas of its operations and supply chains. This statement covers activities and initiatives undertaken between 1st May 2025 and 30th April 2026 and is published in line with section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015.
IRIS remains committed to continuous improvement. Where opportunities to strengthen controls are identified, we act to implement enhancements in a timely and practical manner. This statement also outlines areas targeted for improvement during the current financial year.
Organisational Structure and Supply Chains
IRIS is a provider of mission-critical software and services to accountants, businesses, educational institutions, and their employees. Our operations primarily span the UK, North America, the EU, India, and Australia. We largely develop and support our products in-house, with suppliers primarily located in the UK, USA, and EU.
All suppliers and contractors are onboarded via our centralised procurement process, which includes a due diligence review and confirmation of compliance with relevant legal and ethical standards, which are periodically re-screened.
Countries of Operation and Supply
Operations and staffing are primarily located in:
- UK – Core location of employees, customers, and suppliers
- North America – Includes subsidiaries such as Doc.it, Conarc Inc., and AccountantsWorld
- India – IRIS KPO Resourcing provides business process outsourcing
- Australia – Supporting a smaller customer and staff base
- EU and Rest of World – Distributed staff and clients
Policies Supporting Human Rights and Ethical Conduct
The following IRIS policies address ethical business practices and help prevent modern slavery:
- Anti-Slavery Policy: Introduced at induction and available to all staff; explains the Modern Slavery Act, how to identify risks, and where to raise concerns.
- Human Rights Policy: Confirms IRIS’s commitment to human rights, fair treatment, diversity and aligning with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Core Conventions.
- Bullying and Harassment Policy: Explains to employees how to notify when they believe they may have fallen victim to or witnessed harassment or bullying, and the process for dealing with these complaints.
- Sexual Harassment Policy: Explains to employees how to notify us when they believe they may have fallen victim to or witnessed sexual harassment, and to the process for dealing with these complaints.
- Whistleblowing Policy: Enables staff, contractors, and partners to raise concerns confidentially and without fear of retaliation.
- Code of Conduct: Outlines the ethical standards expected of all employees.
- Recruitment & Employment Practices: We only use verified recruitment agencies and ensure all employees and contractors are engaged voluntarily and legally.
Policies such as the Anti-Slavery, Human Rights, Labour Relations, and Whistleblowing policies are reviewed annually and are available on the IRIS internal policy platform to ensure accessibility and awareness for all staff.
Recruitment Practices and Worker Protections
We take proactive measures to ensure ethical recruitment and fair treatment of all workers:
- All candidates undergo in-person or video interviews to confirm voluntary participation.
- With a return-to-office approach, we meet new hires as part of the onboarding process.
- We conduct robust pre-employment screening, including right-to-work verification in line with local immigration laws. For UK-based hires, IRIS adheres to Home Office guidance, leveraging Identity Document Validation Technology (IDVT) or the Employer Checking Service where applicable. Original documents are verified, and evidence is retained for audit purposes.
- All employment terms are clear, fair, and legally compliant.
- We regularly review best practices and internal processes to assess and reduce risks.
These processes support our commitment to fair hiring and legal compliance across all jurisdictions.
Supplier and Contractor Due Diligence
- All third-party suppliers and contractors must complete a formal due diligence process before engagement.
- Suppliers are screened to determine their risk level and assigned the relevant due diligence assessments. Suppliers are required to adhere to and evidence compliance with applicable modern slavery requirements. Where a supplier fails due diligence, it will not proceed to onboarding.
- We are currently reviewing how to enhance this by:
- Including a modern slavery compliance clause in consultancy agreements and terms of business with agencies, requiring suppliers and contractors to declare compliance with the UK Modern Slavery Act (or equivalent local laws).
- Planning the distribution and publication of our Code of Conduct to suppliers, as it has been drafted and in the final stages of review, given the ethical standards it contains.
- This is part of our broader goal to strengthen contractual and ethical safeguards across our supplier base.
Risk Assessment
We have not identified significant risk areas in our professional service supplier base. However, enhanced attention is given to areas such as facilities management, electronics supply, and overseas contractors.
We continue to:
- Monitor new business acquisitions and suppliers for compliance risks, through risk-based screening at onboarding and periodic rescreening during the ongoing supplier relationship.
- Benchmark our practices against industry peers and emerging legal standards.
- Include modern slavery risk in our annual compliance assessments.
- No known incidents of forced labour or trafficking were reported during FY 2026.
Planned Improvements for FY 27
- Supplier Communication: Complete internal review of the Supplier Code of Conduct, including publishing on the IRIS website, alongside application across the supplier base.
- Policy Review: Conduct a comprehensive review of the Political Party and Charitable Donations Policy and the Anti- Slavery and Human Rights Policy to ensure they define ownership, governance structures, internal controls and monitoring mechanisms.
- Onboarding Reinforcement: Maintain in-person meetings with new hires to support ethical engagement and welfare.
- Right to Work Process Update: Review and update our right-to-work verification processes ahead of the extension of the UK illegal working regime under Section 48 of the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act 2025, which takes effect on 1 October 2026 and extends the Right to Work Scheme beyond traditional employees to include individuals engaged under worker’s contracts, individual subcontractors and certain online matching service arrangements. IRIS will assess its current engagement models against the revised statutory Code of Practice and update internal procedures accordingly.
Awareness and Training
Modern slavery awareness is embedded in staff onboarding and reinforced through compulsory compliance training. Staff are equipped to:
- Understand the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015;
- Recognise signs of exploitation or forced labour;
- Report any concerns internally or via the whistleblowing channel.
Approval
This statement was approved by the Board of Directors and will be reviewed again following the end of the 2027 financial year (30th April 2027).
